Since the last week of October 2023, the situation in Gaza has grown increasingly dire as Israel continues its unyielding assault on the region indiscriminately targeting civilians and infrastructure. Most recently during a conflict on the 12th of November, at least 30 Palestinians were reported dead after an attack by Israeli forces. Among those slain were seven individuals at the al Wafaa hospital after it was ambushed in Gaza City, Al Wafaa hospital was not the only medical center to be attacked with reports of nearby Ahli Hospital being shelled as well.
Adding insult to injury, one baby has died of pneumonia, and the forecast for the coming days isn’t great either as the Gazas Government Media Office has stated a significant cold front that will engulf the Strip in the upcoming days. There have been growing calls to release Dr Hossam Abu Safia, director of Kamal Adwan hospital who was taken into custody by Israeli authorities after they stormed the hospital and set it ablaze.
Since the onset of hostilities on the 7th of October, 2023 the death toll of Palestinians in Gaza stands at an astounding 45,484 with an additional 108090 people being reported injured which correlates with the claim that this is one of the worst events in recent history in terms of casualties. This should also be viewed in context with over 200 international hostages being taken in addition to the 1139 Israeli citizens who lost their lives during the attack
