At least 11 have been killed, and about 15, including women and children, have been seriously injured from an aerial attack in the make-do tents housing displaced people in the so-called humanitarian safe zone in southern Gaza.
Medics and news outlets say at least 11, including women and children, died after Israeli warjets targeted makeshift tents in a “humanitarian safe zone” in southern Gaza.
Among the 11 people killed, three were children and two women, as said by medical personnel, after an early-hour Israeli airstrike on an area of al-Mawasi that was established as a “safe zone” by Israel’s military about the beginning of the war against Gaza.
The footage after the attack showed people busily searching for survivors amid burning tents, scattered debris, and washing lines where residents of the makeshift tents put their clothes out to dry.
Reuters reports that there were 15 casualties and needless to say, no information about the condition of the injured.
The Israeli military did not comment on its latest civilian-striking assault on the humanitarian area under unremitting bombardment by Israeli planes, drones and artillery, including December 22, when eight people, including two children, were reportedly killed.
Just a couple of days before, Israeli tanks had made their way from the southern city of Rafah to al-Mawasi, forcing dozens of families to flee northward for fear of an impending attack.
Israeli shelling next on December 3 killed at least 20 others, with many other casualties from a tent setup in extreme southern Gaza, stating that the strike targeted Hamas personnel.
On January 1, the airstrikes across Gaza left at least 26 dead, among them reported to be four children and one woman. Some ten people were also said to be buried under the rubble of buildings destroyed in the onslaught.
