#Trump implements tariffs on Mexico, Canada and China.

The republican U.S. president put 25 percent on goods from Canada and Mexico and 10 percent on all imports from China.
The United States slapped tough tariffs on imports from Mexico, Canada and China and quick responses came from America’s North American neighbors.
U.S. President Donald Trump has signed three separate executive orders Saturday imposing 25 percent on goods from Canada and Mexico and 10 percent on all imports from China.
However, energy imported from Canada, non-included are oil, gas, and electricity, would be taxable at a 10% rate.
Trump claimed these tariffs were necessary to “protect Americans” and he vowed to keep the tariffs in effect until what he called a U.S. national emergency related to the drug fentanyl and undocumented migration came to an end.
Mexico’s President Claudia Sheinbaum immediately ordered retaliatory tariffs and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said his country would impose matching 25% tariffs on up to $155bn in U.S. imports.
There has not yet been a response from China, Al Jazeera’s Kristen Saloomey, reporting from Detroit, said Trump’s announcements have caused concern on both sides of the border.
Canadians are worried about this, and those Americans in Detroit, where I am, have voiced concerns about rising prices. Economists warn that this declaration could lead to a trade war, raising prices, and possible tipping Canada into a recession,” she said.
